Our parish will join with St. Cecilia Church for this year’s Blessing of the Pets to be held on Saturday, October 6th. The blessing service will take place in the backyard of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church beginning at 12 Noon. Father Pawel and Father Matt will preside at this blessing held in honor of the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi whose memory is celebrated on October 4th.

If you are starting High School (Catholic or Public) in September and plan to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, please ensure you register prior to August 15th , 2018.  Classes meet Sundays after 10 AM mass, every other Sunday.  Please take a form in the entrance of the church and return with Baptismal Certificate and registration fee.  If you have any questions, please contact Michele Shaffer at 973-625-9274

The relics of Saint Padre Pio will be present at Saint Peter the Apostle Church in Parsippany on Thursday, September 20th  from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Holy Mass will be celebrated, following at 7 o’clock in the evening.

Registration for First Holy Communion classes is now open for children of our parish ages 7 to 8 entering 2nd grade in September. Mrs. Lucy Rovegno will serve as the catechist. Classes will begin in October. Please call the rectory (973)627-0422 for registration and other information.

Holy Mass on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd will be celebrated at 8:30 AM with no noon Mass. St. Cecilia's Mass will be celebrated in their parish cemetery at 9 o’clock in the morning. This will be the only Mass for the day. If you are planning to attend please remember to bring a lawn chair. In the event of rain this Mass will take place in St. Cecilia's Church.

n today’s Gospel Jesus reveals the hospitality of God. Everyone is invited to the divine banquet: what matters is for each of us to foster our relationship with Jesus. Eating his flesh and drinking his blood is not an invitation to cannibalism, as the Jews feared. Instead, in the Eucharist the bread and wine are given a new and deeper meaning: they become the very person of Jesus.  

Cecily Isabel Rook-Sweeney was baptized at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish on August 11th , 2018. We congratulate her parents and godparents and welcome her to the Church. Please pray for Cecily and her family.

The program consists of a weekend experience for married couples (no group discussions) with six follow-up sessions. 

The Diocesan Commission for Catholic Filipino Ministries (DCCFM) is inviting you to the annual celebration honoring our two Filipino Saints; San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod, on Sunday September 23rd, 2018. The highlight of the celebration will be a concelebrated mass presided over by Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli at 3:30 in the afternoon at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, located at  381 Grand Street, Paterson, NJ 07505.

Father Zig is leading a trip to Rome and the Amalfi Coast of Italy from September 5th through 14th , 2019.  A presentation for all those interested in this trip will be held on Tuesday evening, September 18th  in Hayes Hall beginning at 7:00 PM. 

Elijah needed food for both the body and soul, for forty days which in the Hebrew Testament is a symbolic number for a journey of the soul.   Food for the soul can be some prayer, a good chat in the morning or evening, the Mass, culture, art, music, prayer to feed the soul. The bread of life of Jesus is Holy Communion, the Eucharist and other nourishment for the soul.

A men’s group called FATHERS OF ST. JOSEPH will be meeting every other Saturday morning at 5:30 AM  in the St. Cecilia Office Building. The sole aim and purpose of the group is to labor for the restoration, revitalization and redemption of human fatherhood, in order that it may become what it has been created to be: an efficacious icon that directs the human family to its Father.

Divine Mercy Academy, located at 87 Halsey Avenue, Rockaway, NJ 973-627-6003, is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year     The school offers a safe, secure and compassionate environment, with a high level of individualized attention, certified teachers, weekly liturgies and daily Religion class, academic curriculum with all core subjects, STEM , physical education, music, art, Spanish and library, with technology integrated throughout the curriculum. Before-care/after-care and extracurricular activities are available.

The Women at the Well meet on  the FIRST SATURDAYS of each month. These evenings are meant to serve as spiritual and social refreshment for women.  The evening begins with a potluck dinner, followed the Rosary, quiet prayer and ending with dessert and socializing.

Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Paterson and the Archdiocese of Newark  have supportive Services for Veteran Families in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Sussex & Union County Veterans, as they  are “providing help-creating hope”!

Individuals served by Birth Haven-Shelter include both those who intend to raise their child after delivery and those who opt for adoption placement.

This weekend Sacred Heart Church will be hosting Rev. Henry Byekwaso. He will be speaking at all of our masses regarding the missionary work which is being done within the Archdiocese of Kampala, Uganda. Your support will be greatly appreciated to assist the work being done.

Couples were you married in 1968 or 1993? The Diocese of Paterson invites you to celebrate your 25th  or 50th  wedding anniversary during a special Mass to be offered at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, NJ.
