Sacred Heart School is presenting “Seussical Jr, the Musical” on March 4th at 7:00 PM at St Mary’s School in Wharton. Additional performances are scheduled for March 5th , at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM Tickets are $10 and $12 at the door. To reserve tickets, please call 973-714-3408.

The Third Sunday of Lent is observed as we gather today to celebrate the Lord’s Day. In the Gospel reading for today a group people tell Jesus about some Galileans who were killed by Pontus Pilate and ask if this is the result of some sin they had committed. The Lord replies that it is not. And He says the same about the eighteen people who died as a result of an accident in Siloam. But He tells those gathered before Him: “But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did.”

All Christmas Decorations and Wreaths should have been removed by February 15th. Parish maintenance removed the remaining.

We am happy to report that our parish recently received a check from our Diocese for $9,273.00. This represents the third rebate returned to us as part of the Partners in Faith campaign.

Pope John XXIII High School, Sparta at 7:00 PM St. Luke's Productions will be performing a live theatrical Performance of "Faustina! Messenger of God's Mercy." Third Week Of Lent -- Hungering For A Healthy Start: The next stop on our CRS Rice Bowl journey is the African nation of Rwanda, where we’re reminded to care for the unborn.

Polish Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart next Sunday, March 6th at 11:30 AM.

Each Friday during Lent (except Good Friday) a luncheon is held at the First Presbyterian Church beginning at 12 Noon followed by a Lenten reflection offered by one of the clergy of the participating churches. The theme for this year is “God’s Name is Mercy.”

The dogmatic dinner scheduled for the evening of February 23 has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

The School’s Annual Calendar Raffle Ticket Winners will be posted on the school’s website weekly. www.sacredheartnj.com - The rawings will be held Wednesday mornings in the school office and will end on April 27th!

Registration for the Divine Mercy Academy for the 2016-2017 school year is now taking place. Divine Mercy Academy, Rockaway’s New Catholic School, will offer an academically excellent, faith-based education to students in pre-K3 through eighth grade.

Today is the Lord’s Day and the Second Sunday of Lent. The Gospel reading for this day tells the story of Our Lord’s Transfiguration on Mount Tabor before the Apostles Peter, James and John. As Jesus, accompanied by His disciples makes His way to Jerusalem, He is shown in glory with the Law-Giver, Moses and the Prophet Elijah. This theophany is meant to strengthen the faith of the Apostles prior to the upcoming Passion Christ was to endure.

If you received a final request from our Bishop asking for your support of the 2015 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, please respond as your means permit. The Appeal is essential to the work of the church in reaching out to those in great need who come to our Catholic Charities agencies.

Birthright, located in Hope House, Dover, is looking for volunteers. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

2016 Annual SS. Cyril & Methodius Appeal will take place on February 20&21. Most of the money from this collection is used to support the Pontifical College of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Rome, the residence of priests from Slovakia who are sent to Rome by their Bishops for graduate studies.

Abstinence from meat (beast or fowl) is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent. This obligation prohibits the eating of meat, but not eggs, milk products, or condiments of any kind, even though it’s made from animal fat.

40 Days for Life is Prayer and Fasting, Peaceful Vigil, and Community Outreach. Take part with Morris County Right To Life at Planned Parenthood, 196 Speedwell Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960, 8AM to 8PM seven days a week from Ash Wednesday February 10 through Palm Sunday March 20.

For the month of February all parishioners are welcome and encouraged to purchase and listen to "Freedom through Forgiveness" by Ken Yasinski. This audio CD is a great talk by a world class speaker. Ken Yasinski does an amazing job of explaining the deepest mysteries of our faith in a way that all people can understand and relate to.

Today we observe the First Sunday of Lent as we gather to celebrate the Lord’s Day. This holy season is one in which we will be incorporating the disciplines of PRAYER, FASTING and ALMS-GIVING which will accompany us during this 40 day journey. In today’s Gospel the Evangelist Luke tells us that when the Lord Jesus left the Jordan River following his baptism, He proceeded to the wilderness for a 40 day retreat in preparation for His salvific work. During this time He was tempted by the devil who tried to lure Him from the way He was to go. Through prayer and fasting the Lord Jesus was armed with strength to resist the assaults of the wicked one.
